Essential Moving Supplies: 5 Must-Have Items for Every Move

May is National Moving Month, so in honor of that, we wanted to share our list of 5 essential moving supplies you should have at the ready when gearing up for your next move.

Moving? We’ve all done it. Back in your college days you tapped a friend with a pickup truck, recruited some others with the promise of pizza and beer, and then proceeded to haphazardly throw everything you own into the back, hoping everything made it in one piece.

Now you’re all grown up (or at least pretending to be) and you’d rather not roll the dice on whether your hard-earned possessions make it to their new home intact. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned moving professional, having the right tools for the job is critical to a successful move. Luckily, US Cargo Control has everything you need in one place.

So, in the spirit of National Moving Month, here is a run-down of 5 essentials you should have on hand for your next move.

1. Moving Blankets

Protect your furniture with the best moving blankets around. With many different options of weights and sizes, you can easily find the right fit for your moving needs. We also carry a large selection of furniture covers and our new TV Moving Bag will keep your big screen safe and sound.

We highly recommend our Supreme Mover 12-Pack for a strong and durable option that will come in handy time and time again. Plus, they’re machine washable!

2. Furniture Lifting Straps

If you’ve ever tried to manhandle a large piece of furniture, you will appreciate these genius Team Strap moving straps. Save your back, keep your friends, and make sure you have these beauties at the ready before your move gets underway.

One of our top sellers and a customer favorite is the Shoulder Dolly Moving Strap. You’ll feel like superman with these on!

3. Hand Trucks

Image of aluminum convertible handtruck

Cut down on the number of trips to and from the truck with a quality hand truck. These make quick and easy work of moving larger boxes, while also being a great tool to move multiple smaller boxes at once, and even some types of furniture. A true must-have for any mover.

Two of our favorite options are the Aluminum Convertible Hand Truck and the Steel Appliance Truck with Double Auto Recoils. Both are fantastic options and make tough moves a lot easier.

4. Mover Bands

large rubber bands, or known as heavy duty rubber bands

Our moving rubber bands are perfect for securing your items during a move. Use them to keep moving blankets or pads in place around furniture and other items during transit or storage. They work great at keeping dresser drawers from flying open when you take a tight turn in the truck, too! They are extremely versatile and best of all, they’re reusable!

Check out one of our top selling sets here.

5. Stretch Wrap

In addition to our mover bands, stretch wrap is another must-have essential you’ll want to have nearby to help keep your items secure and in place during your move. One of our favorites is our Pre-Stretched Wrap 4-pack. It’s lighter than standard rolls, which means you don’t have to apply as much pressure during wrapping. But, don’t think that means it’s not as strong. This stuff still delivers an extreme hold, so you can rest assured your stuff isn’t going anywhere.

Whatever the size of your move, the dedicated team at US Cargo Control is ready to help you save time, energy, and most of all, keep your items safe and secure during transit. So, when gearing up for your next move, make sure your plan includes a stop at US Cargo Control to stock up on these essentials and more!

3 Accessories Every Enclosed Trailer Hauler Should Have

Make sure you have these three items to secure and protect your cargo load for the long haul.

Whether you’re hauling items in an enclosed trailer or van, here’s what you need to ensure your cargo arrives intact.

When driving an enclosed trailer, it might seem that there is little to worry about. Unless you forget to close a door, your cargo won’t be flying out of the trailer or exposed to outside elements anytime soon. So why even bother to secure your cargo, right?

Although enclosed trailers offer inherent protection that flatbed trailers can’t, there is still a strong chance you will experience damaged cargo at some point, and securing your cargo with the proper equipment is the quickest and smartest way to prevent this.

Make sure you have these three items to secure and protect your cargo load for the long haul.

1. Moving Blankets

Moving blankets, also known as moving pads or packing blankets, provide a thick covering that helps prevent damage to your cargo or valuables. Moving blankets can prevent dents, scratches, or abrasions that can occur while you are driving and your cargo is potentially shifting. For even better results, consider using ratchet straps, moving straps, or another type of tie-down to secure the load better.

These blankets come in quantities of a single pack, 4-pack, or 12-pack, and they are very durable and machine washable. What is also unique about our selection of moving blankets is that you can choose from various fabrics, weights, and binding materials. This choice allows you to select the moving blanket that is best for your needs.

2. E-Track Straps

E-Track straps are common straps to use for cargo securement in enclosed trailers. You can use these straps in trailers, cargo vans, moving vans, enclosed semi-trailers, and other applications. These are different from an L-Track strap as L-Track has a lower profile and are typically used in a pick-up truck. E-Track is more heavy-duty and overall stronger. This makes it a great installment to use to keep your valuable cargo, equipment, and even vehicles tied down during transport.

We carry E-Track Ratchet Straps and E-Track Cam Buckle Straps, in 2′, 5’, 8′ and 10’ sections. They come in colors yellow, blue, and grey.

Learn more about the differences between L Track Straps and E Track Straps

3. Cargo Nets

Besides straps and moving blankets, we also carry cargo nets that will keep cargo from moving during transport. Also known as a bungee net, they can be easily attached to nearly any section of your enclosed trailer. We carry heavy-duty cargo nets used for enclosed trailers and light-duty cargo nets that are used for pick-up trucks. The other difference between these nets is that the heavy-duty cargo net is made of 2″ black polyester webbing with a break strength of 10,000 lbs and the light-duty cargo net is either made of a high-quality bungee material or a tough, 2” wide polyester webbing.

If you cannot find a cargo net that meets your needs, we can create a custom net for your specific needs! To learn more about the cargo nets we carry and create, watch the video below.

We also carry load bars and cargo bars, D- rings, and L-Track systems. Learn more about all the Enclosed Trailer Accessories we carry on our website.

4 Ways to Prevent Damage to Your Furniture and House When Moving

If you’re one of the many people that will be moving this summer, here are the best tips for how to prepare.

Moving season is hot as ever, and will continue until September. Moving can be a stressful situation as you are working hard while also being cautious and attentive to avoid damage to your house and belongings. Seems like the best option would be researching moving companies or professional movers to help you move to a new place or store your items away. But, sometimes you might not have the time or money to invest in that. Instead, check out our moving equipment that is great for protecting your furniture and house.

Moving Dollies & Hand Trucks

Our hand trucks and moving dollies are a great tool to use when you need to move furniture or heavy items easily. If you are struggling to lift a heavier item like a refrigerator, stove, or chair, then put that heavy item on one of our dollies or hand trucks and give it a roll!

We carry quality 2-wheel hand trucks with a load capacity of 550 pounds, which perform well on stairs, bumps, ramps, etc. Our furniture moving dollies can perform any heavy-duty job, holding up to 1,500 pounds.

To learn more about the different hand truck and dolly options, see our Types of Dollies for Moving post.

Moving Straps

Our moving straps are great to use when you need to carry furniture or heavy, bulky items without risking strain on your back or neck. Not only is moving furniture injury-prone, but it can be time-consuming and challenging to move your heavy/bulky items. To avoid this, we recommend using furniture lifting straps to get the job done. We carry forearm forklift moving straps to carry from your forearms, and shoulder dolly moving straps to carry from your shoulders.

A moving strap is the single most important item you can have when moving large, heavy, and bulky items like furniture, mattresses, or appliances. Big items like these are not only difficult to get a good grip on, lift, and walk with, but the bending and twisting puts an enormous strain on back muscles.

Learn more about why moving straps are the best insurance for your move.

Furniture Covers

The worst part of moving heavy items out of storage is the damage that could potentially happen. Something could be dented, scratched, marked, or broken, and this will only add stress to your move. To make your moving process less stressful, consider our furniture covers for storage and moving.

Our furniture protectors work in many situations. You can use furniture covers for storage and for moving out or into a new place. You can choose to use our quilted furniture covers or plastic furniture covers. Both covers are easy to slip on or off, and you do not have to worry about abrasions.

Learn more great ways to protect furniture and appliances when moving.

Moving Blankets

Besides using furniture covers to cover your furniture or other items, we also carry moving blankets. These blankets, also called moving pads or furniture moving pads, are another tool to use to prevent damage and abrasion to your valuables. These blankets provide a thick covering that you can wrap just about any item with, and they are very durable and easily washable. What is also unique about the pads is that they are different in terms of fabric, weight, and binding material. Some blankets come in different weights and fabrics (non-woven polyester, woven polyester and cotton/poly blends), and the binding material has different fabric as well (woven, non-woven, and synthetic).

Our furniture moving blankets can be used for short-term or long-term storage, but keep in mind your end use and reuse. If you are interested in our moving blankets, we carry quantities of single-pack, 4-pack, 6-pack, or 24-pack.

If you find you have trouble deciding on a type of moving blanket see our post on how to choose the perfect moving blanket for your needs.

Moving Blankets 101

Moving Blanket Basics

Most of our moving blankets and moving pads are the standard 72″ x 80″ size. All of our moving blankets are stitched in a chevron pattern and have recycled cotton fiber filling. We refer to the weight of a blanket on a “per-dozen” basis, and the very heaviest blanket we sell is our Supreme Mover at 95-pounds/dozen.

Woven vs. Non-Woven Moving Blankets

This refers to the material of the body and the binding of the blanket. Woven moving blankets are more durable because they are threaded while non-woven blankets are pressed and heated.

“Good” Moving Blankets

These economical moving blankets are great for limited use and range in weight from 43-pounds/dozen to 65-pounds/dozen. They have a non-woven body and non-woven binding.

“Better” Moving Blankets

These mid-range moving blankets can withstand repeated use as they have a woven body with non-woven binding. The weight of blankets in our “Better” category range from 65-pounds/dozen to 85-pounds/dozen.

“Best” Moving Blankets

These are our most durable and high-quality moving blankets. They range from 75-pounds/dozen to 95-pounds/dozen and feature a woven body with woven binding. These moving blankets can be machine washed without damaging the integrity of the blanket.

Lightweight Moving Pads & Skins

We also have moving pads that are just 26-pounds/dozen. These are great for single use moves and light-duty shipping. Lacy has more information on these economical moving pads in the video below.

7 DIY Moving Tips for Preventing Damage

Heavy furniture, steep steps, bulky appliances, narrow doorways, and valuable breakables.  When you’re faced with moving all your possessions out of one home and into another, it doesn’t take much to cause costly damage.

Without the proper moving preparation, you not only put your precious belongings at risk for damage, you could also put scratches on floors, gouges in wall paint, and dings in narrow doorways. Or worse yet, you could injure yourself.

Pack away these DIY moving tips to ensure minimal damage the next time you move.

1. Shield your Floor

Whether your moving items over hardwood, tile, linoleum, laminate, or carpet flooring – start by obtaining floor covers. Not only do they prevent scratches and tears, they also protect against dirt and heavy foot traffic. In addition, floor coverings for moving protect you by creating a non-slip surface.

2. Protect Doors and Doorways

Doorways take a beating during move-out and move-in – especially your front door. Everything you own will need to go through it. And if you’ve moved before, you know the struggle of maneuvering a couch or dining table through a narrow doorway. Protect all your doorways with a door jamb protector and cover doors in a quilted door cover for quick and easy protection.

Quilted door covers will protect against dings and scuffs.

3. Take Proper Precaution with Breakables

Nothing is worse than going through all the work of packing and moving, only to unpack and find that your dishes are broken, pictures are bent, and mirrors are cracked.  To ensure your most delicate items arrive in your new home the same way they left your old one, make use of the proper supplies. Start by wrapping breakables in plenty of packing paper. Use a double wall dish box and dish partition kit to ensure dishes stay properly positioned during the move. Remove bulbs before packing lamps and consider using a specially designed lamp box

4. Construct and Pack Boxes Smarter

All boxes are not created equal. Without a strong and properly constructed box, all your items could end up on the sidewalk. Construct your boxes with plenty of quality packing tape to avoid broken boxes and extra work. Tape the center seam twice and tape once along the bottom edges where the flaps fold in. The tape should extend four to six inches up the side of the box. To avoid overpacking boxes, it’s best to pack heavy items in smaller boxes and lighter items in larger boxes.

constructing moving boxes properly
To properly construct moving boxes, tape the center seam twice and the bottom edges once.

5. Protect your Furniture

Move, load, drive, unload, move. Moving day presents plenty of opportunities to ding your new washing machine or put dirt all over your white mattress. Wrap your expensive furniture in moving blankets and moving pads to shield against scratches, scuffs, and dents. To ensure they stay put during transport, consider putting stretch-wrap around the blankets, or use pre-shaped furniture protectors for a perfect fit around love seats, refrigerators, and more. If precipitation is in the forecast, plastic furniture covers will ensure everything stays dry.

6. Take the Pressure off Yourself

The average king size mattress weighs about 150 pounds. The average front load washing machine? 225 pounds. Moving all this is not only a lot of work, it’s potentially dangerous. But you don’t need to be an Ironman Champion if you have the proper moving tools. Moving straps take pressure off your arms and back and allow for better control and maneuverability. If you use a hand truck or moving dolly, you can simply push and pull many items into your new home.

Forearm Forklift Moving Straps take the pressure off your back, making heavy lifts much more manageable.

7. Load Smart and Secure Cargo

Take the time to load your boxes and furniture in a safe and smart manner. This means loading larger and heavier items first to avoid crushing. No matter how far you’re moving, you’re probably going to run into some bumps, potholes, and sudden stops. Secure any items that could shift around or blow away with bungee cords or tie-down straps. Below is an example of what not to do.

How not to move
Don’t get caught moving without quality cargo control equipment like tie-down straps and bungee cords.

Celebrate National Moving Month

National Moving Month is in full swing with people and businesses everywhere gearing up for making moves, big and small.

Moving is no easy task, and there are many things to consider when taking on this job. This blog is going to focus on some moving supplies that people may not realize are available to help them move, but will help make a move safer and easier.

Moving Supplies that Help Prevent Damage

Lacy, Moving Supplies Specialist

  • Moving blankets are also a great multi-purpose product that will cover and protect your products from damage. Once done with a move, these blankets can be used as a cover for items you have in storage that need protected from elements and outside interference.

Moving Supplies for Wrapping and Protecting

Other items that are important in a move are ones that will help keep belongings wrapped tight and protected from damage or loss by coming loose. These would include products to keep drawers closed and boxes sealed.

  • Stretch Wrap: Our blown stretch wrap is high-quality, resisting puncturing and tearing even on sharp corners. Using this wrap is a great way to secure loads both uniformly-shaped and irregularly-shaped.

Moving Straps: The Best Insurance for Your Move

May is National Moving Month, meaning moving season is getting ready to ramp up. We’ve got some ideas on how to help make your move easier and less painful – literally. The best insurance is the one that gets the job done and lasts. This is what moving straps can do for you during your next move. Find out how to avoid damage to your body and your belongings.

Why risk an injured back during your move? After all, there are a full array of moving straps available that use the law of physics to make moving large, bulky items easier. Don’t let pride, ego, or the lack of knowledge confine you to a hospital room or your bed. After all, a move is most often a temporary and infrequent event. Don’t risk a back injury that will possibly tug away at you for the rest of your life.

They say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This is true in the area of moving as well. Prevention of injury through the use of moving straps is just plain smart. Also, prevention of damage to your belongings is also smart. Consider the ways the moving straps provide insurance for your moving activity.

Moving Straps Use Your Whole Body

The Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps Makes Moving Furniture Easier
Shoulder Dolly Moving Strap

First, the obvious is that moving straps decrease the risk of injury to your back. The straps are designed to use alternate body muscles to do the lifting. For heavy items, shoulder straps attach to your body in a way that encourages the use of your leg muscles rather than your lower back. The muscles in your leg are less prone to getting tweaked and injured when you put additional weight on them.

There are also moving straps that use the muscles in your arms to do the lifting. This type of strap is appropriate for those larger, bulkier items that you may have trouble getting a grip on. Often it is by being thrown off balance that a back injury occurs. By employing a forklift type strap your hands are kept free to guide an unruly object to its destination.

“Forearm forklift is a very popular strap for professional movers or consumers wanting a versatile way to assist in moving items like a washer, dryer, mattress, or heavy wood furniture like a hutch,” recommends Lacy, a USCC Sales Specialist. “It is adjustable and takes the pressure off your back. Remember though, you can only lift what you are physically capable of carrying,” she adds.

Safer For Your Belongings

The second type of insurance is in the form of protecting the furniture or objects themselves. Rather than risk having to purchase or repair an LCD television set that slipped out of your grip and smashed to the floor, why not use the proper moving straps for the job.

Mattresses Made Easier

One final way to make your move a whole lot easier is to use a mattress carrier. Moving mattresses, especially king- or queen-sized mattresses, can be a handful. They are heavy and extremely pliable. Our canvas mattress carrier is designed with 9” handles on each side to distribute the lifting and lessen the bodily strain.

Moving straps are likely the most inexpensive insurance you can purchase to avoid injury or damage. However, unlike other types of insurance where a premium is paid and then lost, the straps become a piece of equipment that you can keep and use again. Check out our full line of moving supplies.

FAQs: US Cargo Control addresses some of our recent most-asked-questions

We gathered some of the most-frequently searched questions on our site and made a quick reference guide.  This is not a complete guide, but a starting point. Many more in-depth answers can be accessed by the links contained in this post, or by searching specific state regulations. We hope this will answer some of your questions and be a great starting point for what you need to know.

What are the requirements for wheel chock usage?

Wheel chock requirements vary by regulator. So how are you impacted?

OSHA Regulations

OSHA wants everyone to use wheel chocks. However, they do not have jurisdiction when it comes to regulating commercial motor vehicles, like semis or buses. That’s up to the FMCSA. OSHA does have complete jurisdiction over all intrastate motor vehicles, those used in the workplace and on non-public roads. OSHA will enforce wheel chock requirements on all trucks and trailers not classified as commercial motor vehicles. In a nutshell, if you’re not a commercial motor vehicle, you need to chock.

FMCSA Regulations

The FMCSA has their own rules when it comes to using wheel chocks. Their law says air-braked power units made on or before March of 1975 are adequate to keep a commercial motor vehicle from moving during the loading and unloading process. The FMCSA does require wheel chocks for all agricultural commodity trailers, pulpwood trailers and heavy haulers. Basically, if you are a commercial motor vehicle you probably do not need to chock, but should double check to make sure your vehicle isn’t an exception.

Individual Requirements

Carriers, receivers and distributors also have policies regarding safety, and it’s important to be aware of those policies. If a company requires wheel chocks, the policy will be enforced. Federal safety standards are considered the minimum threshold.

Wheel chocks are not required for independent CMV drivers, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good idea to have a backup plan should your brakes malfunction. Accidents do happen. Wheel chocks simply ensure that you are looking out for the safety of yourself and those around you. Safety officials recommend drivers always set the brakes, chock the wheels and or activate the locking mechanism included on the dock.

What are the federal mud flap requirements?

Surprisingly, there are no federal regulations on mud flaps for trucks. However, there are certain states that do have requirements, that when enforced, can hurt your CSA score and cause you to be ticketed if you are not in line with them.

To play it safe and cover any state-to-state requirements, the simplest common denominator will require you to have a mud flap or splashguard on the rear of the truck that covers the full width of the tire. Length requirements vary, so to be safe, make sure your mud flaps don’t hang more than six inches from the ground.

If you need specific information for a state’s rule regarding mud flap laws, check the DOT website for that certain state.

What is the strongest grade of steel chain?

Grade 120 chain has the highest strength in the industry, is known as a high performance chain, and has a blue finish. The unique square links create increased contact between the bearing surfaces of the links, reducing pressure on the chain. This increases working load limits 50% higher than grade 80 chain, and 20% higher than grade 100 chain. Grade 120 is approved for overhead lifting. However, when used as a tie down chain, Grade 120 is not safe for overhead lifting due to the type of hooks used.

E-track vs. L-track: What’s the difference?

Both E-track and L-track are track systems with fittings for tie-down straps. The biggest difference is their size and shape. E-track is wider and flatter than L-track, and secures on the outside edge of the track. L-track (also called airline track or logistic track) has a more compact appearance and attachment points are inside the track.

L-track’s narrow width is ideal for installing in smaller spaces, like the bed of a pickup. Although newer than E-track, this style is gaining in popularity.

E-track offers more options in straps and fittings, as well as color and metal choices. E-track is a good choice for use in an enclosed trailer or on the floor of an open trailer because of its lower profile.

Are moving pads machine washable?

Our category of “Best” moving blankets are machine washable. Their cotton/polyester material and woven binding are designed for repeated use. They can be washed in a machine and hung to dry.

Our “Better” moving blankets are made with a combination of woven and non-woven polyester fibers forming a mid-weight blanket that is durable and offers excellent protection for repeated use. These blankets are not recommended for machine washing, but they can be spot cleaned.

When do you need an oversize load sign/flags?

A load is considered oversize if it exceeds the standard legal size or weight limits for a road or highway. There are also “load per axle” limits for the weight of a load. Oversize loads include pre-built homes, construction machinery, industrial equipment, and wind turbine propellers.

  • Wide load or oversize load banner signs, safety flags and wide load banner usage is an FMCSA requirement for any commercial motor vehicle handling an oversize or wide load. Size and weight parameters vary by state, so it is important to plan ahead and determine the rules for states through which you will be transporting oversize loads.
  • Many states require vehicles transporting wide or oversize loads to obtain (purchase) permits, which are valid for a limited amount of days. These permits may also specify certain routes that these vehicles are allowed to use.

Moving Blankets vs. Sound Blankets: What’s the Difference?

Moving blankets have gained a reputation as cheap acoustic treatment for recording studios, do-it-yourself vocal booths and other audio/video production areas. However, if you’re looking to effectively block out or dampen noise for your home, basement, garage or music studio, it’s important to choose the right tools for the job. Not all blankets are constructed the same!

Econo Mover - Single
Moving Blanket

Ordinary moving quilts are typically easy to find and relatively inexpensive, but as their name suggests, they’re designed for just that: to wrap around furniture and fragile items to prevent nicks and scratches during transport. They are not designed or tested for sound absorption.

Sound blankets are engineered to reduce the amount of noise reflecting off walls and ceilings, which is critical for producing quality recordings. A woven cotton/polyester shell and 100% recycled cotton filler allow for superior sound absorption.

Woven polyester binding adds durability to sound blankets, and preinstalled grommets along the top edge make for quick, easy mounting and removal.

Check out these great uses for sound blankets:

Rehearse without disturbing the neighbors. A sound blanket is an excellent alternative to costly acoustic foam, panels and curtains. Fewer echoes and distortions improve the clarity of vocals and instruments, while their soundproofing quality means you won’t wake up the neighborhood. They’re portable, as well; easily take them down and fold to carry along to your next gig.

Use around the house. Hang over windows to darken a home theater and block unwanted outside noise from street traffic, neighbors and lawnmowers. Drape over the top and sides of a dishwasher or washing machine to muffle loud cycles.

8 Uses for Burlap Moving Blankets

US Cargo Control Burlap Moving Pad
Burlap Moving Pad, Large: 72″ x 80″

As one of the newer types of moving pads on the market,  burlap moving blankets are becoming more and more popular thanks to the wide-ranging versatility that comes from combining two different fabrics in one blanket.

While moving blankets come in a wide range of quality levels – from a simple moving skin to the thick, high quality of a Supreme moving blanket, all of them typically have very similar fabric on both sides.

Burlap moleskin moving blankets are different in that they features two different fabrications: a more rugged burlap on one side and a soft cotton moleskin on the reverse. The double sided design makes it extremely useful in a variety of moving and storage applications (and it also explains why it’s sometimes called both a moleskin moving blanket and a burlap moving blanket).

Unlike a lightweight skin, it features a finished binding that adds durability and strength. Unlike a heavier cotton or cotton-blend moving pad, it’s more cost effective, lighter weight, and less likely to stain.MBBURLAP-Burlap-Moving-Blanket_2_640

Because this blanket can be used in so many different ways during a move or for storage, we’ve rounded up our top four uses:

1. Protect outdoor items. Even though you may think outdoor items like lawnmowers, garden decor, and patio furniture don’t need padding or protection during a move since they normally withstand harsh elements, don’t forget about protecting other items close by from scratches and scrapes. The burlap side offers just enough protection- without the loft (and expense) of higher-end moving blankets.

2. Create a protective foundation. Placing blankets on the floor of a truck bed or enclosed trailer before loading quickly and easily creates a lightweight yet durable layer to protect the floor and cargo from scratches should shifting occur during transit.

3. Take a seat. This style of blanket is excellent for protecting upholstered or leather seats in a vehicle. If you’re hauling box, a pet crate, or any other heavy item that could damage or stain interior fabrics, place a blanket on the seat first, moleskin side down.

4. Box filler. For large boxes that need a soft filler when moving, burlap blankets are ideal since they’re lighter in weight (and cheaper!) than heavy duty, all cotton pads. The wide weave of the burlap also makes it bend and fold easier than all cotton moving pads.

I’m done moving, now what?

The best thing about moving blankets is their endless uses for after the move, and the moleskin / burlap moving pad is no exception. Our mini list of uses includes:

5. Outdoor storage. Here in the Midwest where there’s four distinct seasons, we store away our motorcycles, bikes, water skis, and other outdoor warm weather toys during the winter. There’s no easier and cost-effective way to add a layer of protection than with a burlap /moleskin moving blanket.

6. Pet bedding in an outdoor shed or dog house. The burlap lays nicely on cement or dirt floors, while the moleskin side is soft, comfy, and warm for those 4-legged friends.

7. Boating, fishing, camping, and hunting. Fold it over so the soft side is on the outside and you’ve got a comfortable layer to sit on. The burlap won’t absorb water like an all-cotton or cotton/polyester blanket, so it’s much lighter in weight when wet and easier to handle. The burlap will also dry more quickly than a similar blanket made of only cotton or a cotton-blend. The smaller-sized, 54 x 72 size is perfect if space is tight.

8. Outdoor sporting event. Great for laying on the ground to sit on, or fold over a bleacher. Simply shake to clear debris or dirt.
