5 Proud Customers Show Cargo Control Gear at Work

Here’s how a handful of customers put our cargo control gear to work for them.

One great thing about our cargo control gear is that it helps you get stuff done. An even better thing is that it often has multiple uses. One piece of equipment can create the perfect solution for two people in different industries with very different jobs at hand.

For example, customers have often used our moving blankets as car seat covers or bedding for their pets, instead of the more traditional use of protecting furniture and appliances during a move. Even our popular ratchet straps have many different uses when you consider all the different types of cargo they can secure.

At the end of the day, we have the tools and equipment you need to get stuff done right. How you choose to put them to work is up to you.

Here’s how a handful of customers put our cargo control gear to work for them.

Custom Tarp Protects Big Boat

Our manufacturing team was tasked with creating a precise-fitting custom tarp to serve as weather protection for this customer’s boat. We used the same heavy-duty tarp material as our flatbed truck tarps and the end result was the customer telling us it’s “a perfect fit.”

From wire rope and turnbuckles to wire rope clips – we sell all the rigging hardware needed to create these awesome suspended footbridges that are being built from coast to coast. This one sits in the wilderness of Wyoming, and another USCC customer built a similar bridge in Connecticut.

Custom Cargo Net Performs in Arts Center

We have netting for all types of applications, but we’re always excited to take on a custom job! Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend, Indiana needed a custom debris net that could be rigged to hang above their beautiful 2,564-seat concert hall, so we delivered this 32ft x 33ft masterpiece.

Convertible Hand Truck Makes Light Work

This customer understands the concept of working smarter, not harder. He uses our popular aluminum convertible hand truck to quickly and delicately deliver bread (he works for a break distribution company) to store shelves. He says the hand truck “handles like a dream over rough terrain.”

Ratchet Straps Hold Heavy Cargo on Flatbed

This hotshot trucker out of Washington state is the proud co-owner of a transportation business that uses our heavy-duty ratchet straps for all types of cargo hauls. In this picture, he’s hauling handholes across Oregon (each weighing about 900lbs.) so a utility company can use them to cover junctions.

Must-Have Moving Supplies, Part 2

iStock_000009587805MediumWe’re kicking off National Moving Month with an overview of some of our most popular moving supplies and the questions we receive about them.

If you’re a DIY mover, check out the first post in the series: Must-have Moving Supplies for the Do-It-Yourself Mover.

If you’re a professional mover, read on!

Our professional moving customers count moving pads, dollies, stretch wrap, and hand trucks as essentials.

Which Moving Pads are best for long-term use?

Supreme Moving Blankets
Supreme Moving Blankets

Moving pads (another term for moving blankets), range from lightweight to ultra-heavy weight.  Most professional movers will use pads in either our “Better” category or our “Best” Category.  These pads are designed to withstand the day-to-day use of professional movers and will keep your clients’ items protected.

To see all of our moving blankets pads in a side-by-side comparison chart, click over to the Moving Blankets & Moving Pads page.

Which H-Dolly is most popular?

We have four types of H-style moving dollies:

The two most popular styles are the standard H, which includes a flat top with rubber tread and 800 lbs. capacity and the rubber cap, which is also an 800 lbs. load capacity and has two end caps for securing large items – also known as a Chicago Dolly.

Snap-Loc Moving Dolly
Snap-Loc Moving Dolly

Lately, we’ve received a lot of requests for dollies with large load capacities and we’re happy to  be able to offer the Snap-Loc Dolly. With a 1,200 lbs. load capacity, e-track compatibility, and an available Connector Strap to connect two together to increase surface area, it’s perfect for professional movers.

What are my options on stretch wrap?

We currently stock two different styles of stretch wrap, both can be purchased in case quantities of four rolls per box or pallet quantities (96 rolls per shipment):

  • Blown Stretch Wrap comes in an 80 gauge strength.  This is a more traditional style, often used by professional movers to secure moving pads around couches and hardwood furniture.
  •  Torque ® Pre-Stretched Stretch Wrap is becoming the top-choice for our customers in the moving industry.  The roll is about 1/3 lighter than the weight of the blown stretch wrap. Plus, it’s already stretched and the amount of pressure required to wrap items is reduced which makes it much easier to apply.  One of the best features of the pre-stretched style is the double hemmed edge on the rim of the roll.  This makes it stronger and more damage resistant.  Accidentally drop a roll of this stretch wrap off a truck and it will not dent like traditional stretch wrap!

What style of Hand Trucks are available?

The Hand Truck is an essential piece of equipment for all movers.  Our universal US Cargo Control Hand Trucks allow you to choose the style that best suits your needs.  Handle options include: vertical loop, pin, round top and double grip.  We also both standard and wide noseplates availalbe.  Accessory items include: stair climbers, an extension nose plate and Hand Truck covers. With so many options available, we’re happy to discuss with you what might work best for your needs.

Steel Platform Truck Moving Dolly

A platform truck moving dolly isn’t just for when your’re moving. This handy hand truck is great to have in the warehouse, office, or at home for transporting cargo, tools, boxes, or awkward-shaped items. While traditional moving dollies have a frame shape with an open area middle, a platform dolly offers a larger surface area so it’s perfect for hauling more fragile items. A folding handle makes it easy to store when not in use. Here our product specialist Leslie shows you the features and benefits of our platform truck:

Our line of hand trucks has gotten the biggest update. We’ve added 12 new models with a range of handle and wheel style combinations. Some include stair climbers and extension nose plates, which are also sold separately. The three wheel types (solid foam tire, aluminum wheel, pneumatic wheel) and three handle models (round, vertical loop, pin) are also sold separately to make it easy to replace or upgrade parts.

We’ve added a convertible hand truck that converts from a two-wheel upright style to a four-wheel flat cart design. The same convertible handtruck is also available with an extension nose plate to handle even bigger loads.

Our steel appliance truck with double auto recoils is also new. Most models on the market today have only a single auto recoil. Ours has dual straps and can handle up to 800 lbs., which is above industry standards for appliance trucks. Check out this video for a review of its great features:

This premium fabric is heavy enough to protect, but lightweight enough not to add extra bulk. Colored binding makes it easy to keep covers organized. Available in a sofa coverlove seat cover and chair cover. Appliance covers include a refrigerator cover and a washer/dryer or oven cover.

If there’s a product or a group of new items you’d like to see added to our website, be sure to let us know- either by a comment below or contacting us at 866-444-9990.

Hand Truck Features and Benefits

Hand trucks with extended nose plate features are sometimes referred to as box dollies because of their ability to carry large corrugated moving boxes because of the added support of the nose plate extension.

The round handle for hand trucks has an ergonomic bend and is covered with a soft molded cover for a comfortable grip.

Stair climbers for hand trucks allow you to maneuver hand trucks up and down stairs and over curbs safely and easily.

US Cargo Control offers hand truck options with foam filled tires and pneumatic tires. Foam filled tires are also called “run flat tires” because the foam compound stays consistent in temperature extremes and even if punctured. Pneumatic (or air-filled) tires can provide some shock absorption qualities, but are also susceptible to punctures and pressure increase or decrease due to temperature changes. Pneumatic tires for hand trucks are similar to bike tires or car tires in this respect.

Box dollies with extended nose plates are convenient for moving corrugated boxes because the nose plate extension provides a larger surface for stacking moving boxes. The extension can be folded up if it isn’t needed or for tighter spaces where turning radius is important.

5 Moving Day Must-Haves

May is National Moving Month, when thousands of Americans will be packing up their belongings and moving to a new home. Whether it’s due to a job change, a school change or just the desire for a change of scenery, moving is exciting but also a lot of work. If you choose to go the do-it-yourself route and pack and move everything yourself, consider investing in these must-haves to ensure the move goes smoothly:

4-wheel dolly

A moving dolly is a great way to move large, heavy items. With a capacity of 800 lbs., even our most basic carpeted moving dolly is no lightweight. The best part? Moving dollies can be extremely useful even after the move: when it’s time to move a heavy tool box in the garage, re-locate potted plants from the patio, etc.

Hand truck

A hand truck is worth the investment because it’s an easy way to move multiple boxes at once, cutting down on trips to and from the moving truck. Our selection of hand trucks offers a wide range of styles and prices for every budget. Like a 4-wheel moving dolly, a hand truck can be a great piece of equipment to have even after the move: keep it in the garage, shed or barn and use it to move large garbage cans, boxes of holiday decorations, etc.

Moving straps

Moving straps are a fantastic moving tool that many people don’t know about. These handy straps are a great way to move large, odd-shaped items or furniture or appliances that can be hard to grab hold of and maintain a good grip. We carry the three most popular styles: Team Strap, Forearm Forklift and the Shoulder Dolly moving strap. All are similar in design in that they take the strain off your back and neck when lifting, but all attach and work slightly different. After the move, they fold up for storage so they don’t take a lot of room.

Special purpose moving boxes

Boxes are obviously a must-have for moving, but we suggest picking up some special purpose boxes for two reasons:  they make packing easier, saving time searching for just the right size box; and they can safeguard your more expensive items from dings and scratches. Our favorites include boxes for TVsmoving boxes for glasses (which includes partitions)  and lamp moving boxes (which are also great for rugs, toys, garage tools, etc.).

Moving blankets

Moving blankets or pads are another essential you may think you don’t need, but the investment is definitely worth it. Throw them over furniture to protect the fabric, over appliances to prevent scratches and dings, around odd shaped items that won’t fit in a box, and more (be sure to pick up some  extra large rubber bands to keep them in place). Moving blankets are also helpful beyond moving day: keep one in the car to have for the kids’ outdoor sporting activities- they make the grass less itchy and the bleachers less hard!; line a kennel or dog house for a little cushioning for the family pet; throw one in with the camping gear for an extra layer on the tent floor or when sitting around the camp fire.

Moving day must-haves are sure to make the moving job easier and faster so you can begin enjoying your new home sooner.
