4 Customers Use US Cargo Control Products in Fun and Unexpected Ways

Check out 4 customers using US Cargo Control products in fun, creative, and unexpected ways!

Recently, some happy customers sent us photos of the different ways they used our products to make things easier…or more fun! Although our products are primarily designed for the industries we serve: trucking and transportation, lifting and rigging, and moving, we always enjoy seeing the creative and unexpected ways our products can be used in order to solve a problem and create something truly unique.

Cargo nets used for OCR Nation’s challenging obstacle course race

Typically, our cargo nets are used to safely secure cargo being hauled in enclosed trailers, vans, and truckbeds. Well, six USCC cargo nets were recently used for an entertaining yet challenging obstacle course that was created by OCR Nation. They hung the nets vertically so people could climb on them in order to hit the bells!

Wire rope used as railings for the beautiful Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens

As a place for social events, special occasions, dining experiences, and more, Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens used our large diameter wire rope as a railing for observation areas. Not only is it innovative, but it also seems to fit in with the scenery. What a match made in heaven!

D Rings used to cover a pool from falling leaves and winter weather

With falling leaves and winter snow approaching, pool owners need to tightly cover their pools to protect them from debris. This customer wanted something secure and trustworthy to cover her pool, besides just using a pool cover. In the pictures below, you can see she fixed recessed pan D-rings to her deck in order to keep the cover tight and secure.

More Cargo Nets Used for Military Boot Camp Obstacle Race

Last but not least, a nonprofit company, called Soldier Rush, used a customized cargo net that created by our manufacturing team. The net was used for their obstacle course, as the contenders were supposed to climb over it as part of their challenge. Notice how the colors match the theme of their race!

5 Proud Customers Show Cargo Control Gear at Work

Here’s how a handful of customers put our cargo control gear to work for them.

One great thing about our cargo control gear is that it helps you get stuff done. An even better thing is that it often has multiple uses. One piece of equipment can create the perfect solution for two people in different industries with very different jobs at hand.

For example, customers have often used our moving blankets as car seat covers or bedding for their pets, instead of the more traditional use of protecting furniture and appliances during a move. Even our popular ratchet straps have many different uses when you consider all the different types of cargo they can secure.

At the end of the day, we have the tools and equipment you need to get stuff done right. How you choose to put them to work is up to you.

Here’s how a handful of customers put our cargo control gear to work for them.

Custom Tarp Protects Big Boat

Our manufacturing team was tasked with creating a precise-fitting custom tarp to serve as weather protection for this customer’s boat. We used the same heavy-duty tarp material as our flatbed truck tarps and the end result was the customer telling us it’s “a perfect fit.”

Rigging Gear Suspends Wire Rope Bridge

From wire rope and turnbuckles to wire rope clips – we sell all the rigging hardware needed to create these awesome suspended footbridges that are being built from coast to coast. This one sits in the wilderness of Wyoming, and another USCC customer built a similar bridge in Connecticut.

Custom Cargo Net Performs in Arts Center

We have netting for all types of applications, but we’re always excited to take on a custom job! Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend, Indiana needed a custom debris net that could be rigged to hang above their beautiful 2,564-seat concert hall, so we delivered this 32ft x 33ft masterpiece.

Convertible Hand Truck Makes Light Work

using a convertible hand truck to make delivery of cargo easier

This customer understands the concept of working smarter, not harder. He uses our popular aluminum convertible hand truck to quickly and delicately deliver bread (he works for a break distribution company) to store shelves. He says the hand truck “handles like a dream over rough terrain.”

Ratchet Straps Hold Heavy Cargo on Flatbed

This hotshot trucker out of Washington state is the proud co-owner of a transportation business that uses our heavy-duty ratchet straps for all types of cargo hauls. In this picture, he’s hauling handholes across Oregon (each weighing about 900lbs.) so a utility company can use them to cover junctions.

Wire Rope Clips from USCC Used to Construct 100+ Foot Suspended Bridge

In October 2017, US Cargo Control received an order for over 300 wire rope clips from an engineer in northern Connecticut.

Lacy Curtis, a Business Development Consultant on the Red Team here at US Cargo Control made sure the customer got exactly what they wanted, when they needed it.

It turns out the wire rope clips were used to assemble a 100+ foot suspended footbridge over the Hockanum River in Vernon, Connecticut.

This bridge grants a direct connection for hikers to cross between two growing trail systems along the Hockanum.

In his Hartford Courant Newspaper article, reporter Peter Marteka describes it as “the kind of bridge you want to build when you are out blazing trails in the woods as a kid.”

The construction site was once a trolley bridge crossing.

What did it Take to Construct?

The job took 16 ¾” Drop Forged Style Stainless Steel Wire Rope Clips, and 320 5/16″ Type 304 Stainless Steel Wire Rope Clips

Vernon town engineer, Dave Smith, led the design and execution of the project with some help from Bridges to Prosperity; a Denver-based company that has built over 200 footbridges in 20 countries.

Then, teams of local volunteers came together and put in over 1,300 hours to help Smith complete this project.

Over 1,300 volunteer hours went into this impressive project.

The Volunteers

Vernon Greenway Volunteers is a group of dedicated individuals who assist the Town of Vernon through the maintenance, enhancement, and proper use of the 30+ miles of trails in Vernon.

Friends of the Hockanum River Linear Park is a non-profit organization that brings awareness to the importance of clean rivers through public education.

Now it’s Your Turn.

This was an impressive project and USCC is grateful to have been a small part of. Thank you very much to Dave Smith for sharing all these photos with us.

Show us what you’ve done with USCC products and you could be featured in our next post. Big or small, we love seeing our products in action.

Customer Photos: Adjustable Shoring Beams

image of shorting beams from USCargoControl.comWade sent us these photos showing how he used two of our 92″ adjustable aluminum shoring beams and horizontal e-track to create an elevated open loft area in his enclosed trailer. He spaced the beams to accommodate extra tires for his stock car, freeing up valuable floor space in the 28 foot long trailer.

“Before adding the shoring beams, I couldn’t carry as many tires as I would have liked on race day because they would take up too much room on the floor.”image of shoring beam load bars from USCargoControl.com

Shoring beams and E-track offer endless options for controlling cargo and making the very best use of space. While the beams create an extra space for holding tires, Wade says they also come in handy for securing gear: “I can roll in a portable tire rack and secure it to keep it from moving, and can also strap the hydraulic floor jack handle to the beam as well.”

Wade says the versatility of the E-track is what sold him on the system: “The great thing about the E Track is the adjustability. Now for storing the car for winter I have a storage rack in front of the car and behind it to make the best use of the space.”

Customer Photos: Stainless Steel Shackles for Fishing

shark4These latest photos we’ve received were a little surprising. While we know stainless steel shackles are used in a wide variety of the industries we serve, fishing is not one that immediately comes to mind- especially when you’re used to hearing from customers in the rigging and lifting field.shark1

Dalton from Texas sent us these great photos of a 5’8″ bull shark he caught in Matagorda, Texas. He says he used one of our stainless steel shackles: the 3/16″ stainless steel bolt type anchor shackle to connect the hook drops to the rest of the shark leader.  shackle

This particular type of shackle is a great choice for an application like this since it offers an excellent combination of strength and protection against corrosion due to the Type 316 marine-grade stainless steel. The bolt pin design also allows for added securement since a nut is screwed on the end and a pre-drilled hole allows for a cotter pin to keep the bolt form loosening with extended use.

Dalton mentioned that this is just one of the many sharks he has caught with our shackles. We’re just hoping he keeps sending us pictures!

Customer Photos: Moving Blankets

We love receiving photos from our customers; so much so that we’ve created a new Customer Photos category.

This first post features photos we received from Laurel in Pennsylvania. Laurel purchased a Supreme moving blanket 4-pack to use for her dog, Tilly. She uses one in Tilly’s crate to provide a comfortable padded layer, and also in her vehicles to protect the seats. At a generous 72″ x 80″ size, our moving blankets are big enough to cover a wide area, but also fold neatly to create a more cushioned surface.

Laurel wrote:   “My husband thinks a moving pad is a moving pad is a moving pad… he went to our local big box home improvement store and bought one for his car for $16. It’s thin and slippery!  I MAY have to share one of mine with him! My US Cargo Control moving blankets really are nice and suit our needs perfectly.”

Laurel also mentioned that she was thrilled to learn that the Supreme moving blankets are machine-washable, a must-have since she says “Mastiffs like Tilly can be slobbery!”

For more ideas on other uses for our moving blankets, see Moving Blankets- Not Just for Moving Anymore.

The Supreme moving blanket Laurel purchased is our best-selling, highest quality moving pad, but additional styles of various weights are also available. We’ve divided them into categories based on weight and material:

BEST Moving Blankets

BETTER Moving Blankets

GOOD Moving Blankets

SKINS Moving Blankets

If you need help in choosing the right moving blanket for your specific needs, give our sales team a call at 800-867-1210. They’ll be happy to help!
